Are predicted traffic intensities correct?

Research by the Windesheim school and Goudappel Coffeng shows that long term predictions of traffic intensities are usually to high. One of the causes is the fact that spatial developments are usually expected to be stronger than they eventually turn out to be. If spatial developments that have not taken place are removed from the model,the predicted traffic intensities come closer to reality.
